Back up your mobile address book with ZYB
Once I lost all my contacts switching from Motorola’s phone to a new Nokia (yes, I screwed it up), I decided to find a simple way to backup my SIM card. I just hate having to connect my mobile on a computer using a cable (it’s a MOBILE phone - a WIRELESS thingy) and complex software, so I never had the motivation to do it. I love iSyncing my calendar on my Mac, but on the same time I have a huge address book on my computer which I really don’t need on my phone and don’t want to mix them up. And why should I be on my computer if I wanted to backup my phone on the fly?
Enter ZYB.com. Just register on their free service and it installs a small application on your phone, which allows you to store your contacts, calendars and other data on their service. On the go, without any hassle or the need to plug in cables. If you switch phones and lose one, you can send all your contacts back into your new phone with a couple of clicks online.
Brilliant? When they launched the service it seemed really simple, but I’m a bit concerned that they are including complex features and expanding the service into a community.. Why would I want to share my personal contacts with the community?
I’m still using it and sleep a bit better at nights. Let’s just hope ZYB doesn’t try to turn into another Facebook. Keep your services simple, please!
